Does anything really change when a person trusts their lives to Jesus? What changes can we expect while we are on this journey before we cross into God’s perfect eternal kingdom. What will Jesus change if we give our lives to Him in faith?
These are great questions to ask no matter which side of that decision you are on. If you are thinking about it is important to decide with your eyes open. I believe the changes are wonderful, you will have to decide for yourself.
We often sell the gospel wrong. We tell a hurting soul, “Trust Jesus and everything will be alright.” What does that mean?
If you have already trusted Jesus, chances are you were hoping for some kind of change. It can be frustrating when we misunderstand or were misled about what Jesus would do in us when we trust Him.
One challenge is that people are most open to turning to Jesus when life is hard and they are longing for change. We often sell the gospel wrong. We tell a hurting soul, “Trust Jesus and everything will be alright.” What does that mean? On who’s timetable and from what perspective? Are there other things we promise that thought Jesus could change might be secondary to what He most wants to change in a person’s life?
It is ultimate truth that everything will be all right, but this needs to be clarified with biblical truth. Jesus said, “In this world you will have trouble & If people hated me they will also hate you!” That doesn’t sound like everything is alright right away. We still have a road to travel in this world and an impact to make with very real obstacles and enemies.
What Jesus changes is more about changing us than changing our circumstances. True faith means eternal life begins now with Christ literally enters our spirit and begins transforming us. He begins transforming us to be like Jesus. What changes can I expect if I trust my life to Jesus?
These are questions we are going to look at more closely this weekend. We will cover at least three powerful changes Jesus brings to those who trust Him. There are many more but if you understand these, you will be on your way to recognizing the rest.
